Confrontation... can I get some help here?

Geez. So someone asked me today why I have been so stand-off-ish lately. Well, this person hurt my daughter a while back and has a tendency to gossip... thus the stand-off-ish because L asked me to just drop it. So I did. And said person also tends to combine and confuse issues. So not only do I have to separate the issues I have to go back to an old event and talk about an old hurt.

I really don't want to do this. Can you tell?

Edited to add:
Well I sent an e-mail to initially separate the issues ... dealt with the non-emotional ones and left an invitation for a PRIVATE discussion between lady and Me and L. Now it's in her ball park.

And if that don't work out so perty... I'm going for the fiddle girl's idee of foamin' at the mouf. Shore 'nuff. And I'm gonna teach L to do it too.

Holy smokes. Bummer. You could go the other direction and just completely flip out and scream and foam at the mouth and ask if they're more comfortable with that. I have some alka-seltzer you can pop in your mouth if you need help with the foaming thing. Yes ma'am I do.

jimminneeee, said woman sounds "over hormonal" maybe you could recommenda black cohash to her...or prozac? Better yet, tell her to get off of nutrasweet to get her memory back. u Know me, i tend to insert foot and then have to pray forgiveness. I'm so glad i hv u guys to bounce my first inclinations off of...

if said woman keeps pickin at it, have L take her some hydrogen peroxide and she if she gets it!

Sometimes I think most people are just plain nuts (me included) I have to wonder what makes people do some of the hurtful or thoughtless things they do? Then I get angry that I even have to waist my valuable time trying to resolve or even think about an unpleasant situation. It seems the older I get I really see the value in how one spends their time. What is the focus of whatever it is that I am doing? Is it positive or negative? Does it bring something good into my life or the lives of others or is it the source of conflict? I received an e-mail from someone which included a veiled criticism of something that had happen. I thought momentarily of replying with a response, but then I thought would it really do any good. I chose to ignore her hidden disapproval, I knew what the real situation was and it was not worth my time or energy to try and make this person understand or feel better. Plus this person is notorious for having a slightly critical attitude, they want things done a certain way but then don’t want to actually back up there suggestions with service. They want to point out the trouble areas but then have someone else step up and fix them. It is the old “I want to be involved but I don’t actually want to do anything to help” story or the “I want to look like I am doing something! But really I’m not doing anything” I’m on a role!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that is my two cent worth for today. Wasn’t it Thumper who spoke probably one of the wisest statements of all “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all?”
